I always get the sense that most people into anime got into it because of either Dragonball Z or Pokemon. I hated both shows. In fact I hated anime before I saw Ghost in the Shell. It showed me that anime could have real substance instead of characters screaming and flying at each other for 4 minutes during a fight. Is anyone else like me? Or are most weaboos secretly all into Pokemon and Dragonball Z?
