just saw this on /b/....

Gentlemen of /net/, prepare to rage hard.

This is Suvi Lindén - the Finnish Minister of Communications.

She wants to implement several censorship bodies for the internet, controlled by the police (this is already in effect in Finland and a few other countries). She also wants the internet service providers to sell only "Internet packages" that would include only certain websites. Would you like to pay $30 a month just for Gmail and Facebook?

She also made paying for TV mandatory in Finland - even if you don't have one! It costs 200 euros a year, regardless of your income.

What's more, she was fired a years back for a corruption claim (she funded her own private golf course with government funds). Now she's back, just with a better salary.

Deibert, one of the organizers of the reception, said he will file a complaint against the censorship of the event and send it to the United Nations Human Rights Commission.

"We condemn this undemocratic act of censoring our event just because someone is trying to impress or be in the good graces of the Chinese government. It is ironic that while people are allowed to gather here to discuss freedom of expression online, censorship and surveillance practices on the Internet, we are being restricted in expressing our views," said Al Alegre of the Foundation for Media Alternatives, a member of the ONI Network.

hello anonymous and the internet. i would advise you to wake up to whats coming to harm our web. the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, OR "ACTA" treaty being proposed in secret at the international level, could, and would if passed, ruin our free internet as we currently know it. in short, this would enforce a 3-strikes and your out policy that would result in you being banned from web access if you get 3 "accusations" from anybody of copyright infringement. ISP's would now be forced by legal liability to police the web for copyrighted data, and take-down anything that would be assumed copyrighted, and that includes just about any data online since anything may "possibly" be copyrighted. so what this would result in, would be the end of all user generated-based websites. such as youtube, myspace, rapidshare, blogs, even the chans! finally this would give police around the world strict new powers to confiscate your electronic devices at national and state borders. and if they happen to find copyrighted material on them they may take your device and send you the fine!!! it is time we stand up for our internet before it is gone. come join us, in fighting this tyranny!!!

here are some news lings that can be read at your disposal....

maybe stupid/already done.
But if we created an online petition, spread it around the web, then after we garnered enough signatures(has to be alot, maybe a million?) we submit it to Washington and also to fox news. Since fox news is on bad terms with the government right now, they may be more inclined to give the subject more media attention. We could also promote the topic on there website, im sure they have some section thats open to discussion.

After lots of thinking, I've got some questions. And I have zero IT/CS skills.

  1. If I set this up on a comp, is that comp accessible from outside? i.e., would it be a good idea to set a comp up as a wireless router and run off that, or is it safe from hackers?
  2. Can anyone set this up, or does it require a special wireless device beyond WLAN cards?
  3. We have to be within wireless distance of each other, so those of us in thinly-populated areas are just SOL, aren't we? Until it takes off and everyone is using it, right?
>> No.173850

>>168519

  1. Depends on OS/software configuration, blocking anons form accesing your CP could be done with one simple iptables rule on *inx
  2. WLAN card and OS supporting 802.11s standard
  3. IDK, Ive more deeper thoughts about this but later, Im tired now

OK Guize... this is our next plan of action.

Before we do ANY moar SoDDing, we need to get heaps of media attention towards this. Which, to a certain extent, will get people towards our cause. We need to gain as much public support as possible.

Make it look like we're uber-1337 haxx0rs (Which we aren't, we just have the balls to do stuff no-one else does), and that we're fighting for the rights of australians.

DO NOT associate ourselves with WWP... From their website, ANY old fag can tell that they're a bunch of pussies. We need to look really fucking badass, like in that FOX11 report. Moar people will support us if we do, I'd imagine.

Now... this is what we need to do.

  1. Digg like fucking crazy. Like, really really crazy. Digg every fucking page about this or us you see.
  2. Don't limit this to digg: Every other similar site (Such as stumbleupon) should be attacked in the same manner.

Organization is needed, moreso in the form of collaboration for anon.

>>The strategy and tactics of guerrilla warfare tend to focus around the use of a small, mobile force competing against a large, unwieldy one. The guerrilla focuses on organizing in small units, dependent on the support of the local population.

Find their weak points, attack repetitively, and randomly.

>>Tactically, the guerrilla army attacks its enemy in small, repetitive attacks from the opponent's center of gravity with a view to reduce casualties and become an intensive, repetitive strain on the enemy's resources, forcing an over-eager response, which will both anger their own supporters and increase support for the guerrilla, thus forcing the enemy to withdraw.

The last part we already have a lot of knowledge on and most skilled anons can do quite well.

>>As a second part of the strategy, guerrilla fighters seek to become physically indistinguishable (e.g. Civilian Camouflage) from the communities through which they stage their attacks. Thus, by adopting the general customs & dress of the area they have infiltrated, they make it virtually impossible for an enemy force to distinguish friend from foe.
