"Liberals" love to ignore how Fox attracts independents and democrats by delivering the news far more objectively than the declining left-wing outlets.

I can't believe people tolerate Obama. Bill O'Reilly is an objective, centrist journalist who presents the truth that spoiled left-wing nuts can't stand to admit... or even listen to. How sad!

The left-wing propagandists are betraying America by siding with socialist government, rather than the productive and capable and honest American people.

Yeah, MSNBC likes to play "Refute the other guys" and tends to pass themselves off more as "Intellectual" when they are about as much as jerkoffs as Faux, save they do it with a smirk and smug look.

I listen to NPR/PRI/local PBS radio/TV news and a touch of BBC, despite all the flak it gets, at least the people they bring on the shows end up coming to a "Agree to disagree" and yet still concur on certain aspects of each others viewpoints.

Supposedly, if every news channel was publicly funded, it might change the objectivity and style of their reporting. And it might get drama-fags like Beck to STFU.

"Supposedly, if every news channel was publicly funded, it might change the objectivity and style of their reporting. And it might get drama-fags like Beck to STFU."

Beck is Beck. Just like Olbermann is Olbermann. I don't confuse them with news. They are commentary.

I'm not a fan of the idea of publicly funded news. The reason being is it will be funded at least partially by the government.

News has gone to shit over the last 20 to 25 years. I miss impartial, plain vanilla, facts only based news. I prefer to make up my own mind, right now I have to sift through a bunch of other opinions to actually get to the facts and decide where I stand.

A pretty solid base of liberal theory (as in real, not american liberal) is equality of opportunity, people not being disadvantaged or advantaged by luck of birth.

How do we square this with people wanting to provide for their children, both while alive and via inheritance....when any advantage they give their offspring is at the collective expense of anyone elses?

As relatively high as the guaranteed minimum standard of living is via welfare in many nations (not america), how much higher can it realistically get, and how high would it need to be for people to be happy leaving their kids with nothing, to succeed or live at national minimum on their own?

Discuss...

Examples for debate: Paris Hilton, Tom Jones, intelligent people whose families can't afford Uni, lazy scumbags living comfortably on benefits.

>Let me ask you this: Is your life lived this way? How much of your income do you donate to charity every month? How much of your time do you spend at the soup kitchens and homeless shelters?

Charity does not have to be visible to the public, it can be private. Take what Joan Crock did for instance after her death; thousands to millions went to charities and scholarships and public institutions. That money generated, even if not hers and from the giant food empire Golden Arches was given back to the public.

At least the captains of industry of old donated money to build Opera houses and music halls to promote the arts, donated money to universities and opened scholarships, and in turn had places of work that needed people to run.

Despite robber barons and captains of industry either having a good or bad rap, you have to look at the fact of what they did with their capitol; Did they accumulate wealth and not reinvest it back in to society, or did they take that wealth and reinvest it and give it back to the public with facilities that the public can use?

In truth, it often takes a monopoly to make a successful industry, but it also takes a monopoly to establish the infrastructure for that industry to continue long after the monopoly is gone and broken up.

That's my point. People can whine and bitch about the motives I have in life, namely making money, but they seem to think that won't help anyone else. People can bitch about wal-mart, but no one can argue that they deliver the same products as any other supermarket, just more, faster, and cheaper. No one can argue that working at wal-mart is an opportunity for HS/College kids who want some extra cash. No one can argue that without walmart, 2,100,000 people would be looking for work.

At everyone:

All you faggots that preach socialism, what do you actually do with it? Do you provide jobs with great wages and benefits? Do you donate spare time to widows and orphans? Or do you simply try to get other people to do it for you?

So did the Gold Standard hold us back or was it the only thing that actually kept value of the dollar, and when it was removed expansion was only possible because of the dollar meaning nothing physical and people are tricked into believing it holds value?

Try and understand I'm kinda stoned.

Money, or currency, is the trust in our government giving us something of value for the amount of time we place in our works of labor. Gold is only there if we wish to invest in capitol rather than trust. Money is a form of trust, not value.

1 ounce of gold back in the time of the Romans could go out and buy you a really nice toga and sandals.

1 ounce of gold in our time will buy you a really nice suit and great shoes.

Gold has held its value, currency based off a GDP with a out of whack balance of import and export of goods has not. Printing extra has not helped.

the bible shouldn't be taught in a historical context because it's not a historical document.

And though Atheists do have their zealots, I think you would be very hard pressed to find a case of an atheist blowing himself up to kill innocents, or marrying several under-aged girls, or mutilating genitalia for their beliefs, or any other reason for that matter.

So anon, has anyone else tuned in to the Codex Alimentarius conspiracy theories? Before you may dismiss it, hear me out. When it's passed in Dec 2009, this will effectively declare illegal the use of natural vitamin and herb supplements in the US without a doctor's prescription, replacing these with drug-based supplements. We're talking regular, off the shelf vitamin supplements here. It will also bind all food sold in the US to the regulations set by the WHO. The Codex Alimentarius will be very similar in operation the already existing Australia-based Therapeutic Goods Administration, which has imposed draconian laws against the import and use of natural vitamin and herb supplements in Australia. There is no telling how far this could go when passed. Some lings:

anyway they should be anhilated , I have heard about them and also have read their site.
I am radically anti IP and biological IP is the worst before even software patents.

We shouldn't give special rights of violence to those who wouldn't otherwise invent something that would be invented in our world one year later anyway , (most likely sooner if less patents hindered innovation)

Extensive info at the following ling

http://anonym.to/?http://www.ciacademy.com/spycase/NOZETTE_Stewart_David.html

WASHINGTON — A Maryland scientist who worked for the Defense Department, a White House space council and other agencies was arrested Monday on espionage charges.

The Justice Department said Stewart David Nozette, 52, of Chevy Chase, was charged in a criminal complaint with attempting to communicate, deliver and transmit classified information to an individual he believed to be an Israeli intelligence officer.

The complaint does not allege that the government of Israel or anyone acting on its behalf violated U.S. law.

Nozette was arrested Monday by FBI agents. He is expected to make his initial appearance in federal court in Washington on Tuesday.

In an affidavit supporting the complaint that was unsealed Monday, FBI agent Leslie Martell said that on Sept. 3, Nozette received a telephone call from an individual purporting to be an Israeli intelligence officer. The caller was an undercover FBI agent.
