Any of you dumbasses who debate Kirk vs. Picard are dumbasses. The characters are supposed to compliment each other. Picard is supposed to be more of an ambassador and diplomat while Kirk is supposed to be a rough and tumble motherfucker. Also yes the Orginal Series was campy, everything in the 60's was. But Kirk's character started to blossom in the movies. I know I am posting outside the thread but I want this shit where everyone can see it. Also DS9 didn't get good until the Dominion War. Oh Lawd some more shit going down at Quark's bar goddamn riveting! And Voyager was good at the beginning but after that went stale. The only reason to goddamn watch it was T-Pol's ass. And Voyager blew ass and did fuck with the older canon you noobs. Also I hope we all enjoy our hands and see you at the next Trek convention.

And while they were all sleeping and maybe Odo making the occasional arrest in the Habitat Ring, Babylon 5 had fucking EPIC WARS going on. Which is why the DS9 producers changed the whole course of the show.DS9 got better, but only because they were trying to keep up with B5

STAR WARS VS. STAR TREKGO....Star Warrs is a bunch of bullshit fantisy set in space. Full of shitty robots and incest. Where as Star Trek gives a possible human future that is Utopian and full of hope. Its has deep characters that are believable. Star wars is mindless garbage.

Your saying Tie Fighters and Bombers will make a difference? Tie Fighters have the same weak and pathetic weapons all SW ships have and are therefore irrelevant. As for bombers, even discounting shields of ST how many photon torps have we seen the various enterprises get hit with and survive? I seriously doubt even a major Tie assault would matter. As for fleet tactics, the Federation uses them quite well even in the Classic series "The Doomsday Machine" Next Generation had its own little fleet action in "Wolf 359" and more. Admittedly the ST guys lost both times I cited but I'd like to see the Empire square off with the Borg.

Star Wars > Star TrekWhy?Every time any ship in ST confronts a larger enemy or something more cunning, some babble fish countermeasure (yes, babble fish) is devised and the day is saved. I doubt there is something as possible to change the output of a piece of equipment to make it achieve something it can not do without altering it drastically. Making a tool, ship, weapon do something other than its initial design is about as fool hardy as trusting your droid with their sexuality with another machine.http://anonym.to/?http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Essays/FiveMinutes.html read it and weep

>>101370I've read all the books. It's a good series.
I've read them all up to Small Favor, it's one of my favorite series now. Harry Dresden is just a genius character, a great concept. I've always like the grim-but-witty characters, they're just more fun to read about.I also like the way Jim Butcher mixes in all sorts of myths, legends, and religions. It's very cool idea, and he manages to pull it off.I read the first one in his other series, but it just isn't nearly as good.

It's been so long now since the last book I think I'll have to re-read the whole series before I can get into Dance.
Just finished book two in this fantasy trilogy. Joe has breathed new life into a somewhat stale fantasy genre. My impressions so far:Sand dan Glotka is a bad asses cripple a la Dr. House with a mission of pain instead of diagnostic medicine. If only the Spanish Inquisition had been this much fun!Logen Nine-fingers is a north man straight out of 13th Warrior; cruel, pragmatic and tough as a coffin nail. The world itself is realistic and Joe builds upon what we the reader's know slowly, letting the mystery develop organically. All in all a fantastic addition to my library.

Couldn't finish the first book. Clunky prose made it impossible to engage with anything. Nice characters, nice plot, nice world. Bad writing and it makes no difference.
If you have watched Heavy Metal high you need to post in this thread.

I dropped acid the first time I saw this flick. Second time I couldn't find any acid so I just smoked some pot. Later I bought the tape. Can't seem to find the disk anywhere but online. I don't think I ever saw Heavey Metal without being stoned. Best animated story I ever saw though.
First time I saw H M I had dropped acid, second time smoked pot. Eventually got the dvd and recently lent it out to a young friend of mine. Told him he should see it stoned first and then decide. (He IS over 18) He loved it so much he also borrowed my copy of H M 2000. . . another fan bourn . . .

It's Cold outside, there's no kind of atmosphere..
I'm all alone, more or less
>>15974Actually 3 episodes and 1 behind the scenes. Not too bad, but no Holly or Kochanski. Also, they kept talking about season 9, which never happened!
Haven't seem any good new scifi in a while. What's great? What full of new ideas?

...I don't get how anyone can say that movie was "great"The entire premise is so unbelievable it makes my head hurt. You have close to two million aliens. Armed with enough weaponry to destroy the fucking country in about a week. And they live in a fucking slum and beg for catfood.BULLSHIT. It's so fucking retarded.

>>151459It's not retarded. If you looked into it, the Prawns function as a hive and needs instructions from the Prawn Queen. The Prawns who lived in D-9 never had any instructions in the past 20 years and only done things for their own survival.
